Where you decide to install your new wine cooler will depend on a number of factors, such as how much space you have available, the desired capacity and the temperature of the room in which it will be installed.
Space available: The choice may seem easy, but if you intend on using your cooler for long storage or service, you will most likely want to install it in the kitchen, an adjoining room or your garage.
Capacity: if you are a keen wine enthusiast and own a large number of bottles that you wish to store for a long time, you will probably place your wine cooler in the garage (although large-capacity coolers do exist that would not look out of place in the kitchen or another room in the house). The same goes for those who own more than 100 bottles and who would prefer an aesthetically pleasing service cooler. Finally, for those who already have their own underground cellar (what a dream!) and who only need some 40 bottles (or less) immediately available, we have free-standing and (more and more) built-in models that could be installed in the kitchen, potentially built into cabinets and columns. When considering this, remember another tip of the month and take careful note of the height of your cabinet doors in order to choose an aesthetically pleasing product that matches the height of the doors in your kitchen, which are generally between 72 cm and 78 cm.
The temperature of the room: in a room in the house in which the room temperature is always the same, all appliances will function normally. Remember, though, that all refrigerating appliances work with different qualities of compressor. It would be wrong to think that the colder the room in which a domestic appliance is placed, the less well it will work! That’s not the case at all! Depending on your appliance’s climate class, it may stop working if you are in an ambient temperature below 16° for some, or 12° for others (these two temperatures represent 90% of cases). The reverse can also be true, however, and many appliances will not work in temperatures above 28°, 32° or 38° (tropical). If you need to install your appliance in a room that might regularly see temperatures below 10°, make sure to choose a product with a “winter system”. This system will be activated if the room temperature drops below the standards for the compressor and will switch on a small heating resistor to keep a minimum, stable temperature so the wine’s maturation is not interrupted. This system is included in all of the Le Chai’s long-storage range.
